Gordon Munro approaches photography as a purist.
Born in England of Scottish descent his inspiration was Richard Avedon, Hiro, Horst, and Irving Penn with whom he worked when he came to New York in his early twenties. He has been photographing celebrities since his early days with Interview Magazine while working for magazines and advertising agencies.
Clients include Lancome, Revlon, Clinique, Judith Leber, Vidal Sassoon, Bill Blass, Oscar De La Renta and his work has appeared in Time, Life, Vogue and Bazaar among others.
After retiring from commercial work he and his wife moved to Aiken, South Carolina. Where he continues his passion, making portraits of horses.
